    Chad,

The feature to play on page load (and ThickBox feature with that) has not yet been implemented. You can do a manual …… for such videos.

Hi Enric, how do I changed the CSS so it will work like lightbox? the position of the thickbox to be center of the screen, no matter where the user on the page? instead of it keep loading at the very top ?

    thanks

    Ryan:

Do you have a sample of ThickBox not centering on the page. I’ve heard of this problem from a few others, but it doesn’t appear in my tests. Also which OS, browser and versions of them do you see this problem in?

    Thanks,

    Enric

    Ryan:

Thank you for reporting the bugs. I’ve fixed the problem with the phantom boxes appearing after ThickBox closes. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find the bug causing ThickBox to appear at the top of the browser in Internet Explorer 6. This error does not happen in Firefox or on IE 7. So I’ve disabled ThickBox in IE 6, defaulting to the dynamic embedding of video. This is in vPIP release 0.16f on the site as of this message.

on IE6, the thickbox, using this current vpip version, does not display properly centered and css styling is not working. might be my page layout, but it works fine in firefox.

    Hey Enric,
A few weeks ago, I was asking you about setting up some video on my oyate website. At that time, I also asked about streaming audio. I want to change all my mp3’s over to stream a lot faster - I’m going to be running a little quiz on the front page of my web site - “Name that Tribe/Tune” where you listen to a piece of music and try to figure out which tribe it is. I thought that this might be best to do with flash, because I could set up controls to do. Can you tell me - is that a flash function? Every time I look in flash to see if this is possible, it wants to tell me about embedding video. Maybe there’s a good way to do this with just using MP3’s?
Thanks for any advice you might have.

    Milt:

You can write web applications with Flash. But that requires knowledge of the Flash environment, programming language (actionscript) and a development environment like the Flash development environment or another development environment for Flash.

The easiest thing is probably to load mp3s in quicktime or create a quicktime movies that are just audio saved with streaming fast start.

Yes, this is one of the problems in the current release of Safari that should be fixed when Leopard comes out.

IS there anyway to add the style setting to the VPIPP settings, so that the movie will play on the page where you want it to??

    Eric:

Not sure what you mean. When specified correctly, vPIP will embed the video where you place the html for it.

I have been testing vPIP on this Joomla! website. It works very well, but my issues have to do with the documentation. For example:

“Click on the image below to open the vPIP code generator. There you can specify the type of movie you have — Quicktime, Windows Media or Flash movie — and the display options. (For Flash, just the .SWF files are currently supported.) Once specified, hitting the [Generate Code] button allows you to paste the vPIP code in the web location your movie will play:”

On the other hand, you also state:

“Both .swf and .flv files are supported. FLV files are supported by the included flv viewer, cirneViewer.swf.”

I have been using both .swf and .flv files in my tests and they work well.

Then the dimensions, which are in the code:

    “<a href=””http://www.myserver.com/media/myMovie.swf”” title=””My” rel=”nofollow”>”

Is there some way that these dimensions could be changed and set globally for the whole site? I have resisted loading the code into my own server because I want to keep up with your updates.

I appreciate the work you have put into this and am looking forward to changing over the many videos on my site to vPIP from popup.

    Thanks,

    Stan Hirson

    Stan Hirson:

Thanks! I’ve corrected this to read that both .SWF and .FLV files are supported.

About the dimensions, I’m not sure what is meant. For flash the width currently defaults to 325×292 (which is the size of the current internal Flash FLV player.) I may be able to setup an override for the default dimension by defining variables in javascript on a site?

Is it possible for you to share how you use Cinegage in Joomal?
    Thanks in advance.

    It’s pretty straightforward now.

I only use Flash 8 videos, either .swf or .flv, depending on the length of the clip.

Once I’ve generated the code and saved it into my clipboard, I just paste it into the content item in HTML. There are a couple of little things to work out: the dimensions of the jpeg and previewing the content item before it is published. I am still fiddling. I have “snuck” in tests and then unpublished them and am now putting together a fairly large piece that will use a couple of dozen vPIPs in the same content item.

If you want to compare vPIP with some pop-ups, the first sequence is vPIP and the next two are pup-ups at:
    http://www.hestakaup.com/content/view/33/43/

I am planning on switching from pop-ups to vPIP.

I am still trying to make up my mind about whether I am better off with 480 x 360 or 400 x 300. I keep to a 500 kbs bitrate.

At the moment, I find this method more straightforward than using some of the plugins for Joomla! For my purposes, it is very important that I give the visitor a still frame to click on in order to produce the video. So far, I have not used an external source such as Youtube. That ruled out some of the Joomla plugins.

Any more specifics, don’t hesitate to contact me diectly through http://hestakaup.com

Good luck with it. It works very well in Joomla!
